Stories are my thing
I volunteer at the local food bank and with Bike Fort Collins, an inclusive bike advocacy nonprofit. I support immigrant advocacy and abortion choice through my church, Foothills Unitarian.
I’ve been to 37 states and 14 countries. I’ve lived in Canada and Estonia, where I was an exchange student in college. I lived in my car in 2000, touring the desert Southwest, and so I pretty much invented #vanlife from the cargo area of my 1988 Subaru DL. I started my career as a full-time print reporter in Cody, Wyo., where it’s possible I took one of the first selfies … with a Canon Rebel, thankyouverymuch.
Raised in Bozeman, Mont., today I live in Fort Collins, Colo., with a wide circle of friends and neighbors, my adorable dog (Hopper), and a flock of chickens (Blank, Blue, Clear, and Black — named for their leg bands). I drink IPA, and I’m not ashamed to say it’s pretty much the only beer I like. Fight me.
